The Importance of a Properly Functioning EGR System

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems are designed to reduce the amount of NOx produced by your diesel engine. It does this by recirculating exhaust fumes through a cooler and then back into your engine’s air intake. This influx of cooled exhaust drops your combustion temperature, which in turn drops your NOx output. For those unaware, NOx output is dependent on the temperature of your combustion chamber. The hotter it gets, the more NOx is produced.

Your EGR system is critical to protecting our natural environment as well as meeting Federal carbon output regulations. Not to mention if your EGR system malfunctions you’ll likely see significant engine problems that will cascade if left unchecked.

DPF Forced Regeneration

DPFs are designed to automatically regenerate when they reach a certain capacity. If the automatic process doesn’t occur, you may need to force the DPF to regenerate. That’s where we come in! At TLO Services, we’ll enter your ECU and override your DPF sensors. This will force the regeneration process to occur, and clean out your DPF!
